Yesterday we had the opening ceremony and draw. First there was a small press conference,  then dinner and then they shipped us of in a bus. The opening ceremony was held in a big sport venue with red carpet and a lot of security. We got numbered and lined up, and then without warning we were sent out on a big stage with more than 2000 spectators and live tv show… They had several performances and also the number one singer in China. Security was massive…I will post pictures of this later:)

Around 2215 we were finally ready for the draw. We all went up and drew our own numbers and this is the result (courtesy of Ted Lerner):

I am sorry, I got it wrong. It is Women 9 Ball World Championships that is the correct name for the tournament:)

So, I have arrived and all is good. The flights were on time, the luggage came, the hotel is good, we found the venue and today we also got to practice a little. We do have the normal problems: People do not speak much English, not enough information, only four practice tables, if you do not know how to reserve a table your in trouble, if you get to the list to late you do not get any practice, the cloth is suuuuuper smooth and slippery, the balls Cyclop (some of the players have never seen them before), the venue a sports gymnasium, it is humid, no facebook, JETLAG! and so on. OH, and we have no western toilets….. This is a Challenge:(

BUT, I have had 1 hour of practice today and will og back tomorrow morning for more practice, I have the Cyclop balls back home and I have Alison Chang that speak Chinese. Also I have got wordpress and facebook now  and also the jetlag is letting og so I am ok:)

Yesterday we went seightseeing. Ina Kaplan, her mother Doris, Jasmin Michel, Kristina Schagan and Alison Chang and I. We went to the Red flute Cave (which was beautiful) in the morning, Elephant Trunk Hill and then the Li river small boat cruise. Today we are going to Four lakes for night cruise after dark. For the first time we actually have a lot of things to see here in China, the scenery is very Nice and even the city of Guilin is full of Places to see:)

Tomorrow we have two rounds of practice and at 16:00 it is press conference, Draw and opening dinner I will post the Draw when I get it. We start play wednesday at 13:00. I am told there is no livestream this year, but if I get a link for score updates I will post that to:)

Here are some photos form the sigthseeing, enjoy:)

vm9-2

Departure time, I am leaving for China tomorrow morning. This time I am going with support from my federation, I am really happy about that. It is expensive to travel to all these tournaments, and I pay all the Eurotours myself with a little help form my club.

I will meet up with Alison Chang in Guilin and we will spend a few days sightseeing with the German girls so we can keep awake:) I find it really difficult to turn the hours like that. It is only six hours difference, but it is the wrong way for me. I need to get up in the middle of the night and being a person that likes to sleep in, it is not very pleasant. And it seems to get worse the older I get:)

Anyway, I do not know if I get my blog to work, or facebook, so I may not post anything while I am gone. I will try my best, but if nothing happens you have to rely on alison-chang.com and top147.com (Chinese)

Take care all and thank you Norges Biljardforbund!

Just closed and playing my music loud. Now is the perfect time for Darrens drill:) I got it already but just want to take it on a few more times without customers running around. Just so I nail it before the others get introduced to it on Wednesday:)

Have a nice evening all!

Departure is closing in, this time we play in Guilin China, from 15th -18th of october. This is the first year in Guilin and we are all looking forward to explore what is said to be one of the most beautiful landscapes in China. My visa is ok, the flights are booked and good, the hotel booked, the Cyclop balls on the practice table, all in all I am getting ready to go:)

Alison Chang has been kind enough to send me the players list, she will post it on her blog later. (She is having some technical problems today). Team Europe is looking good:) Also I have read up on the chinese website, www.nineball.com.cn, and see we are playing with 1 on the spot, three point rule and 45 sec shot-clock. Good to know:)
